TEAM PHILOSOPHY AND ORGANIZATION
The Vista Diablo Dolphins is a summer recreational swim team. It is recognized that there is great diversity in individual skills, motivation, self-confidence, age and level of maturity among our swimmers. We stress individual improvement through positive encouragement. Participation in our program should prove to be a positive and satisfying experience, as it promotes good health and physical fitness in a social atmosphere. One of our goals is to give every swimmer an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability.
Swimmers must be “water safe” and able to float at the onset of practices at the beginning of the season. To be able to swim races during swim meets and invitational meets, the swimmer must be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted (without an older swimmer or coach in the pool). The coaches have the final decision in determining a swimmer’s ability to swim in meets. Safety is very important to our swim team.
Time Trials, Dual Meets, Invitational Meets, League Meet, City Meet and County Champions, will be conducted in accordance with the current CCVSC Standing Rules. Other dual meets will be conducted in accordance with the current CCVSC Standing Rules, unless other arrangements are made with the opposing team.
The Vista Diablo Dolphins Swim Team is sanctioned by the Vista Diablo Cabana Club, but is an independent organization. A board of directors made up of volunteer team member parents are responsible for all organizational and team functions.
VDDST has rejoined the Twin Cities Swim League for the 2014 Swim Season. The primary goal of Vista Diablo Dolphins as a recreational swim team is for all swimmers to have fun. In addition to this goal, the coaches and swim team board will work to foster participation, develop good sportsmanship, team spirit, a good self-image, and above all, to help all swimmers improve both their skills and their times throughout the season in a friendly recreational swimming environment. VDDST will also promote a sense of community that will endure beyond the swim season.
Please keep in mind that we cannot run the swim team without PARENT POWER! There will plenty of opportunities to take on a job participating in a social, fundraising, or spirit committee or maybe you would like to take on a Committee Chair position. Please ask any of the Board Members or seasoned parents for more information on job descriptions. Make this as fun as you can and your swimmer will have the best summer!!
Most Swim Team communication will be conducted via the website and email. Email addresses will be used only for swim team business and updates. Please check the Website frequently for updates.
